A commitment to fostering personal excellence through musical exploration.

Best Practice Music Studio is where you or your child can learn what best practice means. It is more than just music lessons, it is a gateway towards developing creativity, curiosity, focus, and discipline for all areas of your life.

A passion for individual creativity and self-driven learning

Lessons are catered to each individuals needs and desires. Whether you are hoping to become a professional concert violinist, or just want to work on your singing for karaoke night, Simon will help you discover your best. His philosophy is that we are all our own best teachers, and that his primary job is to help you find and cultivate the teacher within yourself.

Professional home studio

Simon offers music lessons out of his home studio conveniently located in central Madeira Park. Equipped with a 1952 George Steck baby grand piano, it is a warm and welcoming space where parents are always welcome to sit-in and watch the lessons, drink some tea, and relax. Alternatively, he offers online lessons for those unable to come for in person lessons.

Over 10 years teaching experience

A member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association, Simon brings over 10 years teaching experience, and an illustrious career as a performing artist. With a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance and a minor in Orchestral Conducting from McGill University, as well as an Artist Diploma in Voice Performance from the Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music, he has studied with some of Canada’s top musical pedagogues.

Flexible scheduling

While consistency is important for learning, Simon understands that everyone has different constraints and sometimes variable schedules. Speak to him about creating a lesson plan that works for you! Lessons are available as 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes.
